Awards and Recognitions

Over the 40+ year history of Davey and Goliath, the show has received numerous awards and recognitions. Now that the lovable duo is making a comeback, awards have been presented for a variety of projects.

2005 Telly Award Recipient
Davey and Goliath’s Snowboard Christmas was a category finalist in Film/Video Television Programs for Children. The Telly Awards, founded in 1978, is the premier award honoring outstanding local, regional, and cable TV commercials and programs, as well as the finest video and film productions. << Read more

2004 Wittenberg Award
The founders of the Davey and Goliath television series were announced as a recipient of the 2004 Wittenberg Award. A a ceremony will take place in Washington, D.C. in November, where the awards will be presented. << Read more

2003 Best Award from Advertising Age Magazine

Gabriel Awards
Among the awards Davey and Goliath has received are three prestigious Gabriel Awards given by the Catholic Broadcasters Association (now UNDA - USA).

	1973 - School Who Needs It - In 1973, the UNDA-USA, the Catholic fraternal association for broadcasters and allied communicators, the successor organization to the Catholic Broadcasters Association of America (UNDA is Latin for "Wave"), awarded the "School--Who Needs It?" episode their Gabriel Award. The judges commented, "For many years the Lutheran Church in America has produced the Davey and Goliath series. Noted for technical excellence and entertaining, motivating human situations for a young audience, it provides an outstanding illustration of positive values. Nationally syndicated, it is not only aired on commercial stations, but used by many school districts as a springboard for teaching social values."
	1967 - Happy Easter
	1966 - Christmas Lost and Found - In 1966, the Catholic Broadcasters Association of America awarded a Citation of Merit to the "Christmas Lost and Found" episode, stating "This is a delightful children's program which entertains as it teaches the true spirit of Christmas. It is simple yet shows great respect for the intelligence of children." The Citations were presented at the Gabriel Awards Dinner on May 10. Though the press release doesn't say it directly, a later reference indicates that the Citation of Merit and a "Gabriel" were one and the same.

National Association of the Deaf Recognition
Davey and Goliath was also recognized by the National Association of the Deaf for the episode entitled “Louder Please” for its raising awareness of deaf and hearing impaired individuals.

1961 International Film Festival Selection
In 1961 the episode "The New Skates", was selected as a United States entry in the 1961 International Film Festival in Venice, Italy.

1961 American Film Festival Selection
An episode of the series was also selected for showing at the 1961 American Film Festival, held in New York City by the Educational Film Library Association.

White House Conference on Children and Youth
The show was recommended by the White House Conference on Children and Youth.
