ELCA
Youth Gathering 2003, Atlanta, Georgia - July 16-20 and July 23-27
The Division for Higher Education and Schools
(Colleges and Universities, Campus Ministry, Schools and Centers)
area in The Globe, the interaction center at the Youth
Gathering, included three areas: smART, the massive paint by
number mural, The Drink and Think, where participants could meet
college representatives in a coffee house setting, and The
Hangout, a pole climb. When Davey and Goliath stopped by, they had
fun adding their color to the mural and Goliath held the pole
while Davey climbed.

| Safety
first, Davey! The first step for pole climbers is "suiting
up." Ben Vaughn, an active participant in LSM, gets Davey set up in the belaying harness. |

|
| Never
fear, Davey! You're belayer, Danielle Lindeman, will bring you down safely and Goliath
is holding the pole. Coming down is way easier than going up. |

| This is
fun, Goliath! Want to try? |

| Davey and
Goliath help paint the mural that The Division for
Higher Education and Schools (DHES) and the Lutheran Student
Movement sponsored at the Youth Gathering. The enormous mural,
painted at the Gathering by participants, will be presented to the
ELCA Churchwide Assembly. Read
